3 Ways To Travel Without Going Into Debt

January 4, 2023 by Jaime

For many people, traveling can often seem more expensive than they can afford. And while some types of travel might leave you with a big hole in your pocket and your phone number on a list for debt relief leads, there are plenty of ways to experience the joys of traveling extensively without crippling yourself financially.

To help you see how this can be done, here are three ways to travel without going into debt.

Work While On The Road

If you’re someone who’s lucky enough to work remotely or to be able to work from anywhere that you choose, you may want to choose to spend some of your time working while you’re on the road.

While you won’t be able to devote 100 percent of your time traveling to just enjoying being where you are, you will be able to continue to make money while you’re visiting new and exciting places. And if you are able to do something creative that you love but also makes you money, like photography or some other kind of artisan, you may be able to find a way to do this in the places that you’ll be traveling to as well.

Only Use Cash

With credit cards being so abundant, it can be easy to think that you’ll take your trip now and just pay for it later. And while some credit cards can make this a very appealing idea by also tying your reward points to travel dollars, if you spend money on your credit card that you don’t have, there’s a very good chance that this travel debt will take a while for you to actually pay off.

Rather than going about it this way, you should try to pay for your travel by using cash only. You can’t spend cash that you don’t have. So if you’re only using cash to pay for things, there’s not a chance that you can go into debt.

Along with this, if you feel more comfortable using a card or do want to get the travel points from your expenses, consider using your credit card to pay for things and then immediately using the cash that you saved up for your trip to pay off your credit card bill.

Book Something All-Inclusive

One of the hard financial aspects of travel is not ever knowing exactly how much you’ll end up paying for something. Oftentimes, when people price out a trip and budget money, they will lowball themselves or forget to include something that could break their budget.

To keep this from happening to you, consider booking a trip that is all-inclusive. With this kind of travel, you pay one price for the entirety of your trip with no hidden charges that will end up putting you in debt at the end of it.

If you want to be able to travel without going in debt for it, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you see how this can be possible for you.
