How Much Would it Cost to Travel the World

June 16, 2017 by Jaime

How Much Would it Cost to Travel the WorldHave you finally given in to the temptation and have started planning a round-the-world trip? Well, the first thing that you should know is how much the trip would cost and whether or not it would exceed your budget. Most people avoid the thought of it simply because of the fear of money, so here is a little bit of an estimation that you could look at for your expedition around the world.

COST OF A ROUND-THE-WORLD TRIP

An RTW trip is a big decision which simply cannot be made overnight, but if you’ve made up your mind about it, here’s something you should know beforehand.

Factors Effecting The Price

Travelling requires money which means you have to be smart about where you spend and how much. It’s not just the conveyance which costs a lot but many other factors as well, such as:

  • Transport
  • Country
  • Accommodation
  • Food
  • Activities
  • Length of stay

While there are several other aspects, these are the biggest expenses that you’ll have to be dealing with. So to begin your calculation on how much would it cost to travel the world, let’s look at the details of travelling expenses for a year round trip, of course cost for pre-trip preparations are excluded here.

Travel

Traveling or transport not only means the airfare but bus tickets, trains, taxis etc. Since you’d want to save as much money as possible, it would work well if you tried hiking and travelling on foot wherever possible. Regardless, for a year round global tour, your total expense from conveyance would summarize to be approximately 5,520.83 USD. This includes all intra-country transportation as well as the airfare. Keep in mind that the time you choose your travels could also mean a rise or decrease in the plane tickets.

Accommodation

From cheap countries to expensive ones, your price for accommodation will greatly vary everywhere. But in total you’ll have to spend at least 54,750 USD for a year-round trip. This will, of course, vary depending on where you choose to stay.

Food

Food and drinks will cost you on a total of at least 2,820.11 USD if you include snacks as well as three meals a day.

Activities

The total cost for entertainment would include activities like tours, adventures, parties etc. You would have to spend a little over 3,613.18 USD.

Total

Your total cost only through the three aforementioned amenities would turn out to be 66,704.12 USD. This is only the travel, accommodation, food and entertainment.

Other Things To Consider

Other costs would include pre-travel expenses such as visas, travel insurance, vaccines etc. You would also have to pack travel gear and shopping from the place of stay. Other things you also need to remember is that the travel expense could greatly alter according to how long you stay and where.

But in the end, a global venture would do you good in not only changing your lifestyle but also how you perceive everything around you. Saving up for the travel would take years and harsh measurements but in the end, it’s all going to be worth it!

Gretchen Rubin Happiness Project Toolbox

June 16, 2017 by Jaime

Gretchen Rubin’s “Happiness Project Toolbox” – The Pathway to Creating Your Own Happiness

What is the one thing that makes you happy? For me it’s helping random people and seeing a smile on their face. Every person has their own reason behind their happiness but sometimes, you need to dig a little deeper to identify that change in yourself that has the power to make you happy.

The “Happiness Project” is a toolbox designed by Gretchen Rubin that focuses on boosting happiness. Is that even possible? Yes, anything is possible if you believe in yourself and are dedicated to changing your life for the better. The Happiness Project Toolbox offers you eight tools that you need to master, in order to achieve peace and the path to empowerment.

Following are those eight tools explained and how to use them:

1. Personal Commandments

Personal commandments are vital in guiding your life to the right path. What is it that you value the most? Make a list and write your overachieving principals. Now, pick one and commit yourself to it. Set rules that you can follow and with time, push yourself to see your strength.

2. Create an Inspiration Board

Who inspires you? Your mother, father, a celebrity, a school teacher or someone else? It doesn’t even need to be a person; it can be a thing too like photographs, books or paintings. Use your idol and make an inspiration board with items that move you. For me it’s negative art. There’s just something about the empty white spaces that soothe me and allows me to think.

3. Resolutions

My resolutions revolve around entertainment. At least once a week, I rent movies and binge watch series. Resolutions are not just about improving yourself but also a way to score yourself on concrete evidence that you are taking steps towards your happiness.

4. Group Resolution

Everything seems brighter and better when you have a friend by your side. Email your friends to become a part of your resolution. My group resolution of bringing happiness to the elderly by volunteering in old age home include five people who constantly encouraged me on my cause and helped me stay on track.

5. Lists

Wish list, to-do list, favorite things list, etc. boost your efficiency. They make you more productive and allow you to see the world in a new light. You appreciate things and people around you more. My list on ‘things to do before I die’ helped me live a more adventurous life and experience things that made me happy.

6. One-Sentence Journal

The purpose of one-sentence journal is to note down important moments in your life. Don’t elaborate on the occasion; just jot it down in one sentence with date and time. The exact moment will help you recall them vividly, which will bring a smile on your face. My journal is mostly about the milestones my son has achieved because he’s the center of my universe.

7. Secrets of Adulthood

Share something with friends or random people an experience that made you happy. What are the hard times you faced in life? How did you overcome them? Share them openly and spread the wisdom.

8. Happiness Hacks

What are your shortcuts to your happiness? Share them with others and encourage them to share theirs publically. It can be as simple as eating outside or hanging out with your mom.

Happiness knows no rules and the more you spread it, the more you will experience it yourself. The short burst of sunshine you feel in your heart when you do something unexpected, is called your happiness that has the power to change your future and faith.

Fashion Designer Tools and Equipment

Six Fashion Designer Tools and Equipment You Need For Fashion Designing

Fashion designing is all about using the right tools. I have accumulated several fashion designer tools and equipment over the years, which has allowed me to become the fashion designer I had always dreamed of. Most people say that in order to step into the fashion designing world, you need to have an artistic flare. I disagree! Today, there are so many patterns and designable clothes available in the market that you don’t need to sketch one of your own.

My work usually involves draping pieces of cloths on a dummy, twisting them here and there to create the perfect twirl or cut bodice. Give free rein to your imagination and let your fashion designer tools and equipments guide you to create a masterpiece. Following are six basic tools that every person needs to become a fashion designer:

1. Pair of Scissors

A fashion designer does not work with just one pair of scissor. There are several steps to create the perfect design and for that you need three scissors:

Card Scissors: This scissor is used to cut the cardboard design, so that the sewing phase can be made easier

Shear Scissors: This scissor is a bit heavy than the card scissor because it is used to cut different types of fabrics

Lightweight Scissors: This scissor is light in weight and is used to cut fussy cloth materials such as silk, lining, etc

2. Tape Measure

I keep a tape measure constantly around my neck. When I’m designing, I lose sight of time and things get a little messy. I usually keep three with me: One around my neck, second in the toolbox and third in the fabric shopper I’m currently planning to sew. A tape measure is very important because it is the one tool that allows you to create picture perfect fitting clothes. Some people also use a set square and grading ruler, which can come handy if you are bad with measurement.

3. Tailor’s Chalk

This is the bane of my fashion designing existence. I keep forgetting where I put them and then I get frustrated. So, when I start my work, I spread at least five around my entire work area in different colors. The tailor’s chalk is a great tape measure partner. Just draw the lines once you have taken the measurement and you can start snipping away.

4. Dress Maker Dummy

Try buying an adjustable dress maker dummy because it allows you to make clothes in all sizes. The dummy gives you an idea how the dress will look on a real person. It saves you time from making any changes if a piece does not fit a body part.

5. Pearl Head Pins

The sewing comes way later but to make sure that the seams are going to look perfect once put together, you need to get an idea pre-sewing. The pearl head pins are the perfect size to sink into the dummy and they can be grabbed easily.

6. Sewing Machine

Last but the most important: The sewing machine. What fashion designer is complete without a sewing machine! I bought a zigzag machine because it creates a nice pattern rather than the overlock one. You don’t need to go all out on buying a sewing machine but buy a sturdy one that has a metal base.

As mentioned earlier, if you have the right fashion designer tools and equipments, your job gets much easier. You don’t need to be a creative artist to become a fashion designer. The correct tools will automatically guide you to the fashion skills you need.

Best Travel Gadgets for Backpackers

June 16, 2017 by Jaime

Best Travel Gadgets for BackpackersBackpacking is the best escapade that allows you to tread the global grounds and get a new perspective on life’s simple pleasures. However, it also requires you to leave the comfort of your home and venture out into the world which means, no matter how important it may seem, you can’t take everything with you. Knowing your limitations and packing only necessities can be quite a struggle but there are a few travel accessories that you absolutely must have!

Packing The Gadgets

When you decide to go backpacking, it may seem like you’re carrying almost nothing with you. Here are a few of the best travel gadgets for backpackers that you must keep with you at all costs:

This is something that you should not miss out on at any condition. Water is a vital necessity and when backpacking through the global plains, you’re not sure if you’ll always be privileged of having access to clean, drinking water. That’s why you need a water purifier which is both light, durable and purifies the water for you whenever you need it. It doesn’t even require any effort to be put into it, all you have to do is fill the bottle and the water will be purified for you. You can also go for a UV water purifier which kills off bacteria.

3. International Travel Power Adapter

While travelling truly feels like a blessing, it could all go downhill if your mobile or other electronic device loses its charge. No worries, with the international adaptor, you can charge your phone no matter where you are. With the efficiency of working in several foreign countries, the plug adaptor will provide quick charging for USB devices as well.

4. Digital Hanging Luggage Scale

5. Noise isolating ear buds

While travelling, it’s difficult to get some peace and quiet. That’s why you need some noise isolating ear buds which work to block out the external noise so you don’t have to worry about screaming kids or traffic noise so you don’t stress yourself out too much.

All these gadgets are things you should always keep with you during your adventure, and the best part is, all of these are available on Amazon!
