3 Things To Know Before Your Next Dental Visit

March 14, 2022 by Jaime

While many people don’t find going to the dentist to be something that they particularly enjoy, there are things that you can do to ensure that your next visit to the dentist goes well for you and has as little anxiety associated with it as possible.

To help you see how this can be done, here are three things to know before your next dental visits to help you with your preparation.

How To Cover The Administrative Stuff

Along with whatever procedures you’re having done when you’re at the dentist, you’ll also need to think about the administrative side of dental visits as well. Especially if you’re unsure about your insurance coverage or you’ll be visiting a new dentist for the first time, dealing with the administrative stuff can be overwhelming.

To help ensure that you don’t run into any issues when you show up to your appointment, it’s best to get all of the administrative things taken care of well before your appointment. If you have dental insurance, make sure you’re current with your coverage and visiting a dentist that is covered by your network. If you don’t have dental insurance, get information about how much your visit will be costing and what your options are for payment. And if you have any new information to add to your patient account or profile, make sure you have that information submitted before your appointment so you don’t have to fill out a bunch of paperwork on the day-of.

How To Properly Clean Your Teeth

It’s not going to be very effective for you to only work on your oral health in the days leading up to your actual dental appointment. Rather, you should learn how to properly clean your teeth now and start a routine of good oral hygiene as soon as possible.

To do this, you’ll want to start with using a soft bristle brush, as hard brushes can damage your teeth. Additionally, make sure you’re spending time brushing every surface of every tooth and flossing between all of your teeth as well. You can also use mouthwash or a tongue scraper to clean off any bacteria that’s left over from brushing and flossing.

Learn About Their Products And Procedures

If you’re particularly worried about going to the dentist or if you have allergies that require you to avoid certain dental products, learning as much as you can about the products and procedures that will be used on you can be very helpful. You can alway call your dentist or do your own research online about what process procedures usually take as well as what the exact products are that your dentist uses.

If you’re worried about an upcoming dental visit you’ll be making, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you prepare for this.

ATV Tire Size Guide

August 24, 2021 by Jaime

If you’ve been an ATV rider for a long time, you already know that all-terrain vehicle tires are sized differently than those of most other vehicles. You probably just look up your specs, type them into a search engine and buy models that appropriately match. But what does that little trio of numbers mean? This guide breaks down ATV tire sizing and offers smart tips for shopping ATV tires for sale.

Tires have three important dimensions: tire height, tire width and wheel diameter. Nearly every manufacturer lists these values in inches. The largest figure, tire height, is the first of the three-number sequence. The second number is the tire’s width, measured across the tread between the sidewalls while fully inflated. The last number is wheel diameter – the distance across your wheel or rim.

With this sizing breakdown, you may have an easier time while shopping. Let’s look at the STI Roctane tires XD 32x10x14, for instance. This particular tire is 32 inches tall and 10 inches wide, fitting on a wheel with a 14-inch diameter. Once you confirm that you have the right size, you should also look at the tire’s benefits. The STI Roctane XD is an 8-ply tire with non-directional tread, a high wear-resistant compound and a bold tread design that provides superb traction. It’s a high-octane tire for rocky terrain, hence why STI named it “Roctane.”

How To Properly Install Your Tire

After you get your new tires home, you’ll probably need to mount them yourself. You should first remove your old tires from the rims – that’s if you didn’t also buy new ones, of course. Getting your old tires off involves deflating them and busting the bead seals. Once you’re done, you can install your tires by following some important steps:

  • Clean up your wheels’ rim lips completely.
  • Add lubricant onto the beads of your new tires.
  • Mount your new tires onto the rims.
  • Inflate your tires.

If all that sounds too simple, consider this – you’ll also need the proper tools for the job. Your tool collection should include tire irons, a valve stem removal tool, an air compressor and a bead breaking tool. A manual tire changer can help simplify the process. This all-in-one apparatus helps you remove and install tires. You can place each wheel on the changer and perform each task rather than struggle with it when the wheel’s on the ground.

Best Parts for Your DIY Upgrade

Tire upgrades provide the most immediate performance results. The Sedona Ripsaw is another useful example. It’s designed for first-class traction on muddy terrain with key features such as a 1 1/8-inch deep tread pattern with strategic spacing for optimal clean-out. The tread pattern also continues onto the sidewall, wrapping around to boost traction in muddier conditions.

Of course, there are many other upgrades to consider. High-performance maintenance-free batteries offer more robust performance, ideal for extended riding and long trips in the backcountry. Whatever you choose, make sure you purchase your parts at a reputable aftermarket dealer. You’ll get a wide selection, super-quality items and expert service.

Off-Roading Wheel & Tire Buying Guide

July 25, 2021 by Jaime

There’s a lot to do when you take your truck off the road, but aftermarket off road parts are not a collection of one size fits all improvements. For most upgrades, including tires, the best choice you can make is a compromise between features you want to see upgraded and ones that you can afford to trade off. To navigate a trail or overlanding build you need to alternate your improvements to compensate for these trade-offs. For example, if an upgrade adds power and off-trail capability at the cost of fine handling, then upgrading brakes or another part that improves handling afterward gives you a net improvement in both categories. In the end, though, you have to choose a direction for your build that emphasizes some types of performance at the cost of others, and changing direction means changing out key build components.

All Terrain Tires

When it comes to tires and wheels, the trade off is generally that what works on one terrain doesn’t always work on others. There are all terrain tire builds, but they offer features that are adequate almost anywhere and specialized to nothing, so when the mud gets deep or the snowdrifts powder up just so much, they reach a point of diminishing performance before fully specialized tires.

These designs are the best option for multi-terrain trails and conditions, but if you’re taking on a single-terrain activity then you’re better off swapping to the rims and tires that suit your needs. The beauty of an all terrain option is that it can handle a lot more mud than your standard street tire, it navigates sand and powdery snow fairly well until things get too heavy, and it still performs like a street tire on pavement. As a result you don’t have to worry about losing gas mileage or putting extra wear on the tire. That means you can still get the improved mileage benefits of tonneau covers and other aerodynamic upgrades as well.

Mud Tires

With deep depressions and large, knobby tread patterns that are spaced widely to provide extra channels for liquid and semi-solid matter, mud tires are designed for all your swampy, mucky, muddy, or slushy conditions. They also tend to work well in sand if they’re designed with a high volume of smaller knobs providing those deep channels for mud or loose material.

Sand and mud tires are often labeled as such, and other mud-only designs that rely on relatively few high mass protrusions do not perform quite as well on sand or loose snow. If you’re looking to keep gear high and dry while you’re out mudding, you may want to consider a deluxe bed cover upgrade like the bakflip MX4 to secure your gear whenever you hit the trails after a heavy rain.

Hybrid Tires

This option is partway between an all-terrain build and a mud tire. It’s great when trails you normally run during the dry season get wet, but it’s not going to give your truck the edge you need in competitive mud events or truly hairy outback adventures. The advantage is that a hybrid design is still functional on dry pavement even if it’s not as ideal as an all-terrain tire, and it is better than the all-terrain option if the road gets a few inches of water due to heavy rains or low level flooding in the area. As always, know the depth before you go into standing water. Vapor lock is still a problem even with aftermarket off road parts buffing up your truck.

How To Prepare Yourself For A Court Date

July 24, 2021 by Jaime

If you’ve ever watched Law and Order, or any other legal drama, you know that courtrooms can be tense environments. Even though real-life court sessions tend not to have as much drama as Hollywood depictions, it’s always serious when money or freedom is on the line.

Whether you’re appearing in court for a human rights, labour law, or criminal case, you must be at your level best. It’s important to know how to compose yourself in the courtroom, even if you’re not a litigator. Continue reading to get some tips that will help you feel confident and prepared for your upcoming court date.

Find the right law firm and lawyer to handle your case.

img

Whenever you appear in court, you have the right to have an attorney present to represent you. If you’re the subject of a criminal case, the court will provide a legal professional to represent your interests if you can’t afford one. Lawyers are expensive, but the fact that American courts will appoint a lawyer to your case in some cases underscores the importance of having one—a good one!

Not everyone with a law degree is right for your specific case, so you must do your due diligence to find the right lawyer for your specific needs. For example, Malliha Wilson is the founder of Nava Wilson LLP, where she is the Senior Counsel, but her extensive experience practicing different types of law has prepared her for almost anything. She previously served as a special legal advisor to the Investment Management Corporation of Ontario and was the first visible minority to serve as Assistant Deputy Attorney General of the Ontario Government, and to present cases before the Supreme Court of Canada.

Malliha’s vast experience in different fields of law is exceptional, so you shouldn’t expect to find many attorneys with her widely varied experience. In other words, you need to find a lawyer with extensive experience handling the type of lawsuit you have. Look for attorneys with a proven track record of success handling cases like yours. You can find leads on great attorneys by asking people you know who’ve had to hire a lawyer and also by looking online.

Adhere to your attorney’s legal advice.

img

The United States has one of the best judicial systems in the world, however, the courtroom can be a dangerous place for people who tend to give themselves bad legal advice. You don’t want to be the know-it-all client who tries to out-talk their own lawyer.

The point of hiring an attorney is to let them do the heavy lifting for you in the courtroom. The best thing you can do for your chances of winning your case is to adhere to the legal advice your lawyer gives you.

Get plenty of rest the night before your court date.

img

The courtroom is a sober setting, and nothing goes unnoticed. You want to be as bright-eyed as possible, and it’s important to be sharp so you can give off the right impression and follow what’s going on in the courtroom.

Do you remember when you were in school and had to take standardized tests? Teachers admonished you to get a good night’s rest and have a healthy, energizing breakfast in the morning. You should apply that same wisdom to your court appearance.

Dress strategically.

img

What you wear to court is as important to making a good impression as having the right demeanor and energy. Lawyers often advise women to wear women’s professional clothing and their male candidates to dress business casual. It’s as important to look your best, in blazers, blouses, and other workwear, as it is to feel your best.

No one but future lawyers and judges looks forward to being in a courtroom. However, if you find yourself engaged in a lawsuit, you can increase your chances of a favorable outcome by hiring the right lawyer and allowing them to do their job, and making a good impression.

What Every California Entrepreneur Should Know

June 22, 2021 by Jaime

California is the country’s biggest market—in fact, one of the biggest markets in the world. That can make it an intimidating place to start a new business. But the more an entrepreneur knows about the Golden State before they open their doors, the stronger their position.

California has many laws and requirements for businesses, some similar to those across the U.S. and some unique. Make sure you’re not caught unaware when trying to get your footing in this competitive market. There are several important aspects every California entrepreneur should understand.

The Market

Before picking your location and making the investment needed to open a business, make sure you understand what market you’re stepping into. You’ll want to find a market where a dominant competitor doesn’t already provide the goods and services you want to offer. You won’t be able to avoid competition, but you can give yourself a fighting chance.

One of the best ways to boost your odds in the competitive California market is to do market research. There’s no better way to find out how to succeed than from the customers you’re seeking to impress. This can also help you understand the competition better.

First, figure out what you need to know about your market. Narrow your questions down to focus on the first step, and look for low-cost ways to conduct your research. Online surveys may not be the most scientific method but can give you a broad picture of your market.

Regulations

Every state has its own laundry list of regulations for new businesses, and California has one of the more complex business codes. It may be worth getting an attorney to review your business plans and ensure you’re not unintentionally running afoul of any state or local codes with your business plans. Businesses that don’t plan ahead might find themselves forced to close their doors as soon as they open.

California changes its business regulations frequently, and each new legislative session may bring some surprises. Keep on top of any major changes and be prepared to adapt your business. The most important time for knowing business regulations is before you open to ensure you have any needed licenses and paperwork. Costly fines can be serious trouble if a business hasn’t had time to build up a nest egg.

Taxes

California is a massive and lucrative market, especially in the big tourist areas, but that can be a double-edged sword. It’s also a state with a high cost of living and one of the highest tax rates in the country. Businesses start with a basic tax rate of 8.4 percent, but they may be liable for both business and personal taxes.

Make sure to understand all your tax liabilities before the first reporting date comes along. California’s tax code can be complicated for both small and large businesses, and you’ll want to be aware of corporate, franchise, and alternative minimum tax rates before you decide how to expand your business. Having a good accountant or tax attorney can help you avoid costly penalties.

Insurance Needs

Proper insurance is one of the most essential needs for any business. Some forms are legally mandated, including workers’ compensation for almost all businesses with employees. This insurance covers your employees’ costs in the event of an on-the-job injury and protects you from liability should they accept the workers’ compensation benefits.

Business owners should also look into professional liability insurance in California. This all-purpose insurance covers you if your company offers a service. Also known as errors and omissions insurance, it’ll cover your legal costs and associated fees if you’re sued for a mistake or bad advice provided by your company. It will also cover any settlements or judgments against your company up to the level you purchase, which can save a business from bankruptcy.

How to Adapt

California’s market is always in flux between major corporations moving in and out of cities and changing laws on local and statewide levels. Businesses always need to be versatile, but in California, only those that can think on their feet survive long-term.

The most successful businesses adapt quickly and figure out how to make changes that benefit their business models. Doing market research, not being deterred by failures, making sure employees keep learning and training, and promoting accountability on all levels of the organization are good ways to ensure your business never gets complacent and can react to changes quickly and productively.

Welcome to the Golden State

Moving into California is one of the biggest steps for any established company. But new and veteran businesses alike can set themselves up for success with a few simple steps. The rewards for those who brave this massive economy successfully will be huge.
