Enjoy Some Retail Therapy When Traveling to Chicago

April 29, 2019 by Jaime

Diving headfirst into a shopping mall or your Amazon wishlist might be the first thing you do when you’re feeling down. It might be confusing as to how retail therapy could help bring your mood to a more positive and stable state, but even science backs it. But retail therapy isn’t just a solution to the blues. It’s become a fun pastime in its own right.

One of the premier shopping destinations in the United States is none other than Chicago, Illinois. The “Windy City” boasts some of the most restorative retail therapy spots for those who just need to spend a little time out on the town.

In order to see where Chicago stands, we picked out the top 3 shopping destinations. This will help you uncover some of the local’s secrets and put you in front of great deals you might not find anywhere else. Without further ado, let’s take a look at what these shopping destinations have to offer.

Retail Therapy Spot #1: The Magnificent Mile

The Magnificent Mile has become one of the most respected shopping locations for those craving a little retail therapy. It’s anchored by a whopping three different shopping centers, each with its own flavor. Not only does it have over 460 different stores, but there are many other events that take place in this Chicago shopping district as well.

You’ll find that no matter what interests you have, there’s something to fulfill them in The Magnificent Mile. With the Shops at North Bridge, 900 North Michigan Shops, and Water Tower Palace, there are hundreds of stores and plenty of dining options. From chic boutiques to fun, local kitsch, you’ll find what you’re looking for here.

Retail Therapy Spot #2: State Street Shopping Destinations

This one might not be as expansive as The Magnificent Mile, but it’s still one of the favorite shopping districts of Chicagoland. Surrounded by buildings with a timeless presence, State Street embodies the history and elegance of Chicago right in the heart of downtown.

Many find that this is one of the better spots for bargain shopping, while others just love being surrounded by something that has a lot of meaning to it. From classic shops to high-tech stores, there’s a little bit of everything on State Street.

By the way, here are some things that must be seen if you decide to wander into the State Street shopping district. You’ll never forget your visit if you embrace these beautiful sights.

  • In the Landmark Building Atrium, you will find a three-tiered waterfall. It’s formally known as the “Lost Fountain” and was designed by a local architect.
  • If you go to the 5th floor of the Landmark Building, you’ll notice a beautiful Tiffany Ceiling made with different colors of glass. Definitely a must-see!
  • Also, in State Street are the big green Great Clocks. This is a priceless piece of history that’s easily recognizable by all. It’s also a great backdrop for those vacation photos!

Retail Therapy Spot #3: Chicagoland Outlet Malls

The Chicagoland Outlet Malls have become the preferred shopping destination for those who are budget-conscious but still love big brand names. A variety of well-known retailers bring their best deals to the table here. You’ll be able to find just about anything you need at prices you might not be able to find elsewhere. And the selection is almost overwhelming.

Bonus Tip!

This will put the icing on the cake during your trip to the windy city of Chicago. The whole point of retail therapy is to #TreatYoSelf: You are the best, so you deserve the best. One of the best luxury hotels is waiting for your arrival, just five minutes from the airport. Over the years, Chicago tourists and businesspeople have embraced Hyatt Regency O’Hare Chicago for all of their lodging needs.

The amenities are high-tech. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure the best stay possible. With concierge services, a lovely on-site bar and restaurant, free fast Wi-Fi, and fitness centers, this hotel has it all. After a long day of shop ‘til you drop action, you’ll appreciate having a comfortable, accommodating place to settle into.

Types of Outdoor Advertising and Tips for Success

April 26, 2019 by Jaime

These days, outdoor advertising is so common that most people no longer pay attention to it. In big cities and densely populated areas, businesses need to ensure that their ads create an impact; otherwise, no one will remember them, and the effort will be put to waste.

Outdoor advertising pertains to any medium that is intended to reach consumers when they are outside or away from home. Similar to ads placed on television or radio, outdoor ads are also for ‘mass market’ consumption. Because it does not target a specific type of audience, the purpose of this type of advertising medium is to convey generic messages or create brand recognition.

Different types of outdoor advertising

Whether a company is large or small, outdoor advertising is a staple marketing tool because it can reach a large number of viewers when placed in areas where people travel on foot, drive in cars, or while in mass transit. Some of the most common types of outdoor advertising used today are:

  • Point of sale displays such as a pop up stand or a roll-up banner
  • Billboards
  • Transit advertising such as that found in buses, trains, and wrapped on taxicabs
  • Digital billboards
  • Street furniture ads posted on benches and bus shelters

Most outdoor advertising used in the past was simplistic and used as a supportive medium for television and radio ads. But with digital channels becoming more prevalent, outdoor advertising has also evolved with the inclusion of social media account names, websites, and QR codes. These days, outdoor advertising has become so creative that many brands often use it as the focal point of the company’s entire marketing campaign.

How to create successful outdoor advertising

To get the most value out of your company’s advertising budget, you need to approach outdoor ads strategically. Consumer attention span is becoming shorter by the second and if you want your ads to catch their attention, follow the advice below:

  • Make outdoor ads shareable. One of the advantages of creating an impactful outdoor ad is that customers will likely share it on social media if they find it unique and engaging.
  • Focus on high-traffic areas. Marketing is expensive, and if you want outdoor ads to count, you need to put them in areas with the most foot traffic. You will get more value for your money by investing in one high-quality ad placed in an area that will get millions of views than several ads in areas that will not get as many views.
  • Learn from your competition. If a strategy is working for your competition, you can learn from what works for them and see how you can incorporate the same method without copying what they do.
  • Keep it simple. With outdoor advertising, you only have a couple of seconds to catch the attention of potential customers. Ads should be simple, memorable, and spark a conversation. What you are aiming for is not only to inform the public but to intrigue them.

In conclusion, outdoor ads will do much of the heavy lifting for your company’s marketing strategy. It is crucial to understand the purpose of these ads to ensure that you are using them to your company’s best advantage.

Top Things to Do in South Bank

April 23, 2019 by Jaime

South Bank is a commercial, entertainment and art district in London that attracts plenty of tourists each year. There are many fantastic places and exciting things to do in the area, no matter what your interest is. If you are visiting South Bank, here are some of the things that you should not miss.

Shop and eat at the Borough Market

If you’re a certified foodie, a visit to the Borough Market is a must. There are plenty of food stalls to choose from that offer different kinds of foods and specialities. Your taste-buds and stomach will be satisfied. Pastries and bread are also available, as well as fresh meat, cheese, fruits, and vegetables.

Visit the Tate Modern

Art enthusiasts will be delighted by the amazing artworks on display at this museum. There are permanent collections that are housed in the Tate Modern that you can see for free. It also hosts exhibitions for well-known artists that are available to view for a fee. Aside from the artworks, the museum also has the perfect location to enjoy the gorgeous view of the surrounding area that includes the famous Millennium Bridge and St. Paul’s Cathedral.

Ride the London Eye

The London Eye is an observation wheel that stands 135 metres high. This will give you a bird’s eye view of the city, providing up to 25 miles of panoramic view when you reach the top. There are also interactive tablets that give information on the landmarks that you will see during the ride. It’s best to try this during the offseason because the peak season produces long lines, so you are likely to spend more time waiting in line than experiencing the entire ride itself, which lasts for 30 minutes. Peak seasons are school holidays and the months of July and August.

Watch a play at Shakespeare’s Globe

Whether you are into stage plays or you just want to give it a try, you will not be disappointed doing this at Shakespeare’s Globe because you will not only be wowed by the performance on stage but by the place itself and the overall experience. It gives the vibe of how people used to watch stage plays in the 17th century. There is a huge hole in the roof above the centre stage. While there are also wooden seats that have roofs on top of them, most spectators still prefer to stand in front of the stage just how it was done centuries ago. Since there is no roof in that area, you need to wear a raincoat to protect yourself from the rain. Umbrellas are not allowed inside.

These are just some of the top things to do on your visit to South Bank as there are a lot more to explore. You may want to stay for several days to maximise the experience, and a serviced apartment near Southbank be an ideal accommodation choice. Find one that will serve as your home while on vacation, offering the modern convenience of hotels and the comfort of an apartment, all in one.

April 16, 2019 by Jaime

Most students would love to travel and see the world when they have time. However, the cost of making such a trip discourages them and they wait until later in life to fulfil this travelling itch. Travelling as a student has numerous benefits and you shouldn’t forego this opportunity. You are independent and flexible meaning you can go anywhere and have fun. It is even possible to find paper writing help to ensure you enjoy the world with no assignment deadlines hanging over your head.

If you want to see the world when young, look at the following money saving tips and make your dream a reality.

  1. Fix a Budget and Choose A Realistic Itinerary

As a student, you don’t have a lot of money to use and you have to save as much as possible along the way. One of the best ways to survive on the little funds available is by selecting a realistic travel plan. You need to choose destinations and that you can visit on your budget. You should review your financial situation and look for destinations that you can comfortably visit on your budget.

  1. Get A Part-Time Job

A part-time job can help you save enough money during your trip and ensure you have fun everywhere you go. It is fun to make your own money and when you commit it to a plan, it makes the work worthwhile. When travelling, there are multiple job opportunities and you should take any opportunity that comes your way to augment your savings.

  1. Look For Alternative Accommodation Options

If you want to have an easy time financially during your travels, look for affordable accommodation. The best idea is to look for something out of the ordinary options. Hotels are expensive and they shouldn’t feature in your list of accommodation options.

Instead, use cheaper options such as apartment rentals, Airbnb, and other lodging sharing options. There are unique lodging options online and you should take time to explore these when doing your research.

  1. Cut Flight Costs

The biggest concern for student travelers is how to get to their destinations. Flight costs can ruin your budget and you need to find innovative ways to save money. Choose the right time to travel by avoiding holidays and high-travel times, book in advance to take advantage of ticket offers, choose mid-week departures and returns for best price deals and look at alternative airlines to your destination for better ticket prices.

You should also look out for airline co-branded credit cards which come with a huge sign-up offer for new customers which saves you a lot of money. On your smartphone, make sure you have flight price tracking apps including Skyscanner, Kayak, Yapta and Airfare Watchdog for price alerts.

  1. Use Public Transport To Explore

Most of the popular destinations also feature reliable public transport including trains, tram, and buses among other modes. You can save a lot of money by opting for such transport modes to move from one tourist attraction to the other. It also gives you a chance to mingle with locals and experience the destination in style.

To save money when travelling, you need to downgrade, learn to negotiate and find alternative sources of food away from large malls. If you have a business paper, you can get inspiration from your money-saving strategy to come up with a great essay.
