How To Plan Your First Road Trip

January 2, 2019 by Jaime

Almost every other person I talk to wants to take a road trip at least once in their lives. But in reality, only a few do. It usually because they are bogged down by responsibilities and don’t find the time. Let me tell you that time is never going to come. Unless you take control and carve out the time for your first road trip.

If you have finally managed to do that, the excitement might be very high. Channel your excitement and use to plan your first road trip to avoid any major glitches down the road:

Plan Your Route

If this is your first road trip, I would recommend keeping your route simple and your destination close-by. Start with your end destination in mind. Take out a map and create your route. You won’t be traveling to your end destination in one go. It’s not possible, and besides what’s the fun in a road trip when you don’t make any stops.

Decide how many miles you can drive in a day. Don’t get excited and drive more than you can. You need your rest. Select your rest steps according to your daily mile limit. A good idea is to search the internet for motels and lodgings before you start the road trip. Read up on their reviews and the amenities they offer. Just don’t make any bookings in advance. You don’t know if you might need to make any unscheduled stops along the way.

Create Your Budget

Once your destination and route are planned, the next step is to work on your budget. Your budget will probably depend heavily on the amount of savings you have. Allocate money for gas, rooms, and food.

If you are low on budget, opt for cheaper motels and restaurants. You can even get an RV to save money on lodgings, and cook your food on your own. Cooking your own food is not only cheaper but also healthier. You might not even find good quality food in your usual road-side motels.

If this is supposed to be your big road trip, I suggested settling your debts before leaving. This way you can start your road trip with a clear mind and de-stressed mind. You can choose from these Best Debt Settlement Companies (Our Top 4 Debt Relief Picks for 2018) if you need to create a payment plan for your previous debts.

Get Your Vehicle Trip Ready

Your vehicle is the single most important part of your trip. Choose your vehicle carefully. Some good cars that are suitable for a road trip are convertibles and small SUVs. You can also take a motorbike if you are planning to take the trip alone. But with a motorbike, you will be quite limited with the luggage you can take.

Choose a vehicle that has a good gas mileage. You will probably be spending a good portion of your budget on gas, so the better the mileage the lower will be your expenses.

If you plan on taking your own vehicle, take it to your mechanic for a tune-up. Ask him to check for any problems. Let him know you are going on a road trip. He should be checking the fluids, bearings battery, belts and hoses. You should most definitely keep a functional spare tire with you. A good option is to change your oil and make sure all lights are in working order.

Select Your Entertainment

A road trip can easily become boring. It isn’t like the road trips you see in the movies. The long stretch of road can even put you to sleep. To avoid this, compile CDs of your favorite music. You can even save some on your cell phone. Jazz up your trip with some good music. If you are taking friends or family with you, you can also bring books and magazines to keep them entertained.

Pack Smartly

Pack for comfort. You are probably traveling for adventure. You wouldn’t possibly be attending weddings or formal parties. So keep your clothes casual. Don’t fill up your car with extra luggage. You might be needing space later.

Pack a few snacks and water bottles, in case you don’t hit a rest stop when you need one. Some other useful things to pack are a first aid kit, safety supplies, flashlight, extra phone battery, and some spare change.

Don’t Stress Out

The most important thing is to have fun. A road trip might sound intimidating during the planning stage, but it’s one of the most refreshing journeys of your life. The simple task of driving on a long road clears out your mind and de-stresses you. Make the most of your journey. Make a few unscheduled stops to take pictures or just enjoy the beautiful backdrop.

5 Tips For Vegans Travelling In Las Vegas

December 28, 2018 by Jaime

While most modern restaurants offer a separate vegan menu or even include vegan items on their regular menus, there are still those hold-outs that don’t bother to include the philosophy in their cuisine. If you’re a vegan traveling in Vegas, for example, you might find that you have a hard time locating quality food that fits your dietary preferences. Here are five tips for the vegan traveler in Las Vegas.

Don’t Be Afraid To Ask The Locals

Who knows their city better than the people that live there, right? While talking to strangers can seem strange at first, it’s really one of the best ways to get to know a new city. If you’re looking for specific accommodations, such as vegan cuisine, consulting the locals can sometimes be an even better approach than say, a Google search.

Locals often know details about restaurants and shops that may not be listed or online or that are very vague elsewhere. If you’re not sure about something, be sure to ask someone. If you’re not comfortable asking the average person on the street, you can ask the local authorities or a tour guide, if you have one. If you take a Taxi or an Uber while you’re in town, talk to the driver about where the best vegan cuisine is or which restaurants offer it on their menus.

Do You Research Beforehand

As with any trip, planning ahead is always the best way to make the most out of your experience. If you have specific dietary preferences, it’s even more important to research the city you’re visiting beforehand, since you may need to seek out specific restaurants to patronize.

Yelp!, Google, Facebook, and OpenTable are excellent resources for researching not only the restaurant’s menu beforehand but also customer reviews. You want to make sure that you’re getting the food you’re looking for, but also that the customer service of the establishment isn’t subpar. After all, you’re supposed to enjoy your travels, right? Nothing can ruin an experience like bad customer service.

A favorite Henderson Mexican Restaurant is Borracha Mexican Cantina in Henderson, NV, just outside of Las Vegas, offers an excellent vegan section on their menu, including everything from plain nachos and a veggie quesadilla to roasted veggie tacos and burritos.

Check Out Vegan Blogs and Websites

Las Vegas actually has dozens of vegan restaurants, which you can find in-depth information about on vegan blogs and websites such as Vegansbaby.com, which has listed several of these restaurants, with descriptions about the ambiance, menu, and overall expectations of the establishment(s).

The authors even include the restaurants’ locations. With in-depth reviews, you’re sure to find the right experience that you’re looking for, as well as food to match your preferences and tastes.

Watch Your Budget

Las Vegas is notorious for a lot of things, one of them being prices. Eating can be expensive in the city of sin, with a single meal in some places running up a bill of almost $100 per person. It’s important to remember that just because a restaurant is vegan or offers vegan options, this doesn’t necessarily mean it’s cheap.

Black Out is a unique dining experience where patrons are left to eat in the dark. Offering vegan food; but with the added ambiance and overall experience of the place, you’re going to pay in upwards of $60 for a meal. If you’re looking for something different though, this may just be what you need.

On the other end of the spectrum, Chef Kenny’s Vegan Asian Restaurant is an establishment with extremely reasonable prices. Lunch specials from 11-3 pm will run you only about $8-15. The mock meats offered here are said to be so good they’ll fool even the most ardent meat eaters.

When you set your travel budget, be sure to include your meal plan, and always leave a little flexibility so that you can try new things. Las Vegas has literally dozens of vegan restaurants and menus, giving you endless options for every meal and every budget. Finding one that fits your budget is easy as long as you’ve done your research.

Take A Guidebook

You may not always have access to a cell phone or internet connection during your travels. This is when a good old-fashioned guidebook comes in handy. These little books contain all the information you need on dining and entertainment in the city, and even come with pull out maps or other extras.

They are small enough to fit in your pocket, or if you really want, you can get the bigger one. Just remember, you’ll have to carry it around, and if you’re taking a plane, the book may become extra baggage.

Be sure to pick a guidebook that includes vegan restaurants and destinations, and be sure to double check any places you’re unsure of. A simple phone call can save you a trip (which can add up when you’re traveling).

Conclusion

Veganism has grown immensely and is now integrated into our very culture, making it a popular lifestyle choice and therefore more options for vegans have developed over the years. Vegas has plenty of vegan restaurants to choose from, and with a little extra preparation and research, and maybe even some help from the locals, you should have no trouble finding exactly what you need.

Tires play a very important role in any vehicle after a good engine. It is the tires that ensure good grip and smooth riding. Driving on roads is quite easy when it is compared to driving on terrains and muddy lands, forests or mountains. Keeping Your Prized Bike In Tip Top Condition

January 29, 2018 by Jaime

Just like any expensive items, after having invested your money in a good quality beach cruiser bike, you would want to take good care of your bike. You would want to keep it in tip top condition for you to enjoy riding it for many years to come.

Just like a car being an expensive toy to some men, an expensive beach cruiser bike men’s best friend needs some basic maintenance after your beach ride.

  • First, hose down the whole cruiser with water.
  • Mix the shampoo or liquid soap with water in a bucket.
  • Use a sponge or an old towel to wash the entire cruiser with the diluted shampoo or soap.
  • Make sure to wash the entire bike, including the cables.
  • You might need an old toothbrush to dislodge any caked dirt or mud from the chain and the gears.
  • Again, hose the entire bike including the chain and the gears to wash off all the shampoo.
  • To remove any residual dirt in between the links and teeth, spray with a degreaser. Leave for a few minutes and remove the dirt with a dry cloth.
  • After drying the chain, apply and work the lubricant into the link.
  • If you notice some rust on the chain, a little bit of WD40 could easily remove the rust.
  • Make sure the whole bike is thoroughly wiped dry to prevent rust forming on the metal parts.

If you have been riding the same bike from your teenage years, it is about time to upgrade to a bicycle for men. Bikes are divided into mountain bikes, road bikes, hybrid bikes, and cruisers. If you are looking for a bike to ride on rugged or off-road terrains, then you will need to get a mountain bike. A road bike is used for the normal paved roads and it is built for speed. A hybrid bike can be used both as a mountain bike and a road bike. It is not as rugged as the mountain bike but it is good for commuting. A cruiser bike is used for cruising and casual biking. You usually see people cruising on these cruiser bikes on the boardwalks along the beaches. Regardless of your biking needs, they are a perfect method of transportation and a great use of exercise. You will easily and effectively be able to get around from point a to b and will make your trip a success.

You can check out the different types of bikes and compare the prices of the different bike websites. Websites such as the sixthreezero.com features different types of bikes for men and women. You can easily find a good quality bike to suit your style and your preferences within your budget.

5 Tips For Running a Small Business While Travelling the World

December 12, 2017 by Jaime

If you’re interested in learning how to run a small business whilst traveling the world, simply continue reading to discover 5 handy trips, which will make travelling whilst running a business, a breeze.

1. When abroad, ensure constant cash flow by investing in debt collection

In order to ensure that your cash flow remains green whilst you’re traveling, it’s well worth paying for a professional debt collection service to chase your debtors. Debt collectors in Sydney can help you with this. As your business may require the funds which you are is owed, in order to ensure that your staff are paid and that your business has the capital to operate efficiently, whilst you’re away travelling the world. You can also look into debt collection in Melbourne. This is not a task you will want to take on yourself even if you weren’t having the time of your life traveling the world.

2. Create a thorough schedule that will help you to overcome shifting time zones

In order to avoid being feeling jet-lagged, it’s highly advisable to create a schedule while managing your business while travelling as it will help you adjust to each time zone you enter. As an example, when you arrive at a new destination, don’t plan to go to sleep until it’s dark. As the quicker you throw yourself into the local time zone, the less your body will be affected by jetlag. If you normally work out in the mornings, it’s also worth following your morning routine, whilst you’re overseas. Which shouldn’t be difficult as most hotels and resorts boast well equipped modern gyms.

3. Make sure that your accommodation offers free high-speed Wi-Fi

If you plan on conducting video conference calls, whilst you’re travelling or foresee yourself sending regular emails from your work laptop, or perhaps need to make use of your favourite and best computer tools, it’s well worth choosing to stay at hotels which offer complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi. As you don’t want to miss out on signing a new business deal because your hotel offers a snail-paced internet connection, which causes your video call to freeze. Worse yet, some hotels charge guests for each hour or each GB of internet which they use. Which can quickly add up to several hundred dollars.

4. Choose to stay at hotels which boast convenient on-site business centres

It’s also well worth booking accommodation at hotels which boast an on-site business center. Most of which boast private work desks, laptops, tablets, printers, phones, charging stations and scanners. Better yet, most business centers also offer quiet, private spaces to conduct business calls and video calls. Which is handy as it’s far more professional to video call your clients, suppliers from an office environment, than from your hotel room.

5. Learn to travel with a carry on sized suitcase

If you travel frequently, it’s well worth limiting your luggage to a single carry on sized piece of luggage as you’ll be able to go straight to security, when you arrive at an airport and won’t have to worry about losing your luggage or having to wait for your suitcase at arrivals.

6. Join a variety of rewards programs

As a frequent traveler, if you remember to enter your membership details when you book your flights, hotel, and rental car, you’ll quickly begin to rack up enough points to redeem on freebies. Such as free hotel nights and free flights. As an added benefit, you may even get upgraded to business class for free. Or you may get upgraded to a more luxurious hotel room.

If you follow the five tips listed above, you’ll find that traveling whilst running a small business is a breeze.
